Our church was founded in the early 1960s as Shady Oaks Assembly of God Church of Lake Jackson, TX. Since then, we have seen building acquisitions, remodeling projects and grown into a vibrant community that serves our members & the Greater Brazosport Area. Through local outreach & partnering with missions work around the globe, God has truly blessed our congregation.
In 2024, Bethel Church Lake Jackson celebrates 20 years of leadership by our Lead Pastors, Rick & Anna Helguero.
Bethel Church Lake Jackson's Mission is to bring heaven to earth. This was part of The Lord's instruction in Matthew 6:10 when he prayed, "ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN."
We have a vision to Discover, Develop, & Deploy Disciples into their Divine Destiny.
These will be accomplished through our
Prayer, Preparation, Practice & Proclamation.
We offer a variety of ministries and programs for all ages, including nursery age children, grade school kid's church, teen youth groups, Bible Studies, and outreach programs all here in Lake Jackson. Our ministries are designed to help our members grow in their faith and serve others in our community. It's not just our history, it's what we believe in the present as well. We would be happy to have you & your family join us in sharing our mission to spread the Good News!
Lake Jackson is just a short drive on South 288 from Houston, TX. Known as the Greater Brazosport Area, our community boasts some of the state's finest wildlife preserves, creeks, lakes, rivers and of course our very own access to the Gulf of Mexico at Surfside Beach! A nice evening walk near dusk of the Jetties at the mouth of the "new" Brazos River on either the Surfside or Quintana Beach access point is a must do recommendation... There you'll be likely to catch a glimpse of the real life in-the-wild dolphins rolling in, out near the end of the Jetties, and it's impressive just how peaceful it is only those several hundred feet away from the shoreline. And if it's the fishing you love most, be sure and check out Bryan Beach as well.
Our community has a high number of shift workers out in our petrochemical industry plants, multiple family-owned as well as chain restaurants, numerous family run small businesses in every area of trade you can imagine, and needless to say a thriving port.
The Port of Freeport is a bustling point of activity with everything from produce and vehicle imports, to offshore oil rig support, and even the massive deep sea faring oil tankers that literally come and go from around the globe! There is no telling how many unique visitors we get annually.
If sports entertainment is your cup of tea, remember, we're just about an hour to an hour-and-a-half away from all your major sports teams in Houston, TX and surrounding areas. By the way, concerts and sports events are just a couple special trips we sometimes take as a group from Bethel Church Lake Jackson, so if you enjoy an occasional road trip for a day in a stadium, arena or park, you might as well consider that we're you're church!
Thanks for reading our little essay. Have a wonderfully blessed rest of your day, and we hope to MEET You SOON!
(P.S.- This turned into our first BCLJ Blog entry, check the bottom of this page for more entries!)
If heading South 288 at Dixie Drive exit, make an immediate U-turn under the overpass, and take the first right onto Flag Lake Drive. If heading North 288 at Dixie Drive exit, make the very first right as you pass Dixie Drive onto Flag Lake Drive. Heading North on Flag Lake Drive, we'll be on the Left, which is in Lake Jackson . (Hint: it's the street that runs behind the famous fast food place with golden arches.) Fun fact: The right side of the street here is Clute, TX.
